Scout Projects

The Darien Land Trust has a long history of partnering with local Scout troops, and many of our properties provide space for leadership projects. We work with Scouts to develop projects that will meet the requirements for Eagle Scout, as well as other projects to help them meet  community service requirements.

If you are a Scout and are looking for a service project, please contact Executive Director Elizabeth Harmon at [email protected].

2020 Highlights

Over the summer, The Darien Land Trust partnered with Troop 35 Life Scout Will Morgan to complete and Eagle Scout Project in Selleck’s Woods. Eagle Scout is the highest achievement of the Boy Scouts of America and to attain this rank, scouts must complete a service project of significant impact to their community.

For Will’s project, he assembled and installed two park benches as well as native Mountain Laurel bushes in Selleck’s Woods.

“Growing up only a couple minutes walk from Sellek’s, I have such fond memories of exploring the trails as a child. So when it came time to decide what to do for my eagle project, I was thrilled to be given the opportunity to add to this wonderful piece of land. The two park benches which are locate atop high points in the park, will give visitors spectacular views of nature for many years to come.” – Will Morgan
