This spring, we’ve been listening.

Through the Town’s recent Plan of Conservation and Development survey, residents shared what they value most about Darien — its tree-lined streets, open meadows, coastal views, and quiet woodlands — as well as growing concerns about the future of our natural spaces.

We heard concerns about:

• Increased flooding
• Loss of mature trees
• The spread of invasive species
• The need for more thoughtful, conservation-minded planning

We’re taking action.

With the support of our community, the Darien Land Trust protects and stewards more than 230 acres of woodlands, wetlands, and open space. We also invest in environmental education, advocate for thoughtful conservation policies, and continue exploring opportunities to acquire more land for future generations.

As development continues and green space becomes increasingly limited, protecting these natural areas is more important than ever. These lands support wildlife, help reduce flooding, improve community resilience, and provide places for people to connect with nature.
