Volunteering

Volunteers are vital to the success of the Darien Land Trust, from serving on our board of directors to land protection, habitat restoration, office support, and organization. Whatever your skill, knowledge, or interest, there’s a place you can make a difference.

Stewardship

Stewardship work parties bring together the nicest people and offer a chance to enjoy the fresh air. We always need volunteers to assist with maintenance and restoration work on our properties and conservation easements. This is our largest group of volunteers, and we will gladly welcome more!

Stewardship volunteers bring their energy and enthusiasm to Darien Land Trust work party events as well as assist with special projects in smaller groups. In the past people have maintained habitat, cleared brush, fixed up trails, removed invasive plants, planted native species, and located property lines.

Corporate One-day Projects

The Darien Land Trust works closely with the local businesses and community groups to work on one-day projects on preserved land to enhance the appearance, safety, and usability of the land.

Through hands-on experience that is fun and rewarding, the volunteers gain an understanding of the importance of preserving natural landscapes and the effective impact of their work. This helps reach our objective of creating stewards and informed advocates for these properties on the individual, community, and corporate levels.

The Darien Land Trust handles all project details, easing the ability of corporations to carry out this type of community service, and customizes each project based on a variety of factors including level of difficulty and number of participants.
